Skye

No ropes required

cause it's flat.
We had a great day in the 'British Alps' aka the Cuillen Range on the Isle of Skye during our week in Scotland last month. We could see Rum, Soay and a bunch of other islands. The rock in the Cuillens has so much iron that our compass needle spun in circles..

Katie nearly stepped on an adder on the way up! It was sunning itself on the track quite happily until we stomped along. Unfortunately it snaked off before we could find our camera.

Here's a grave from the 7th century cemetery on Scalapy.

Scotland was great (again) and we even managed to randomly see Crowded House play at a muddy music festival in the Highlands. Neil Finn has such a great voice, the crowd knew all the words (I didn't know they were so popular here too)

Back in Wales.....

Here's a very funky house (s'posed to be a nunnery) seen from the Brittania Bridge over the Menai Strait between the mainland and Anglesey . You can see the very stylish Menai Bridge further north.

Vet Rant - Chocolate Labradors : don't get one! These have become highly fashionable in NZ and the UK and have seen a preponderance of inbreeding and genetic selection on one trait only. The living result of this wobbled into the clinic today. Rolo (good name) is 8 months old, and is a disaster - overweight, with hip dysplasia, arthritic forelegs, dermatitis (skin infection) and a retained testicle. Also behavioural problems! May as well shoot him now as he will be on painkillers and antibiotics for most of his life.

Quote of the month : God is Welsh (thanks to Gwyn at our cell-group)

Van Update: Katie has treated and re-painted the entire exterior, and I have nearly finished the cupboards inside. We bought an awning on ebay and will bolt that to the rail.
