Bogota Free Stopover

Finally, a bit of luck! A toilet malfunction on our plane from Madrid meant that although we did have to fly for 10 hours sharing 1 toilet between 200 passengers, we also got to spend two days in Bogota staying in a flash hotel at the airlines expense. Hurrah!
Now, Bogota used to be the 'kidnapping capital of the world', but now it's not (that's Bagdhad) so we had loads of fun. A Facebook status update in Madrid meant that 16 hours later we were touring around the old part of town with the brother of a friend in Vancouver. (follow that if you can..¨)

Bogota is a frantic sort of place and reminded me a bit of China at first. The traffic is madness and public transport frenetic but vague, but thanks to Kiwi Ken we had the mini-bus system sorted, much to the amusement of the Argentines also stuck in the hotel with us ('We don't have these sort of buses in Argentina..').
