Cimex hemipterus

I lay on the bunk, in the semi-dark listening to the happy folks outside our door, it wasn´t so much that their voices were filtering through the tightly shut door, more like a heavy metal, rock band had set up camp 2 centimetres from my eardrum. I guess thats why I couldn´t sleep, then I felt a creeping, prickling feeling down my arm.... wonder what that is? Can´t be bothered moving - strange how sitting on a bus for 12hrs can make you feel so tired. Aw well try to sleep....there's that funny prickling feeling again - its on my leg, and my face, ankle.......... Ok somethings wrong here... getting creepy thoughts about large spiders infesting my bed. Jumped out of bed, switched on the light, which didn´t make even the slightest impression on the zombie lying in the bunk across the room, in fact I think it snored slightly louder if anything, and started to investigate my bed for creepies. Well I found them, not spiders luckily, but little flat bugs that looked a bit like ticks and really hated the light. They were about the size of a small nailhead and very yucky!

A gentle whisper of 'bedbugs' in the ear of the zombie had a catalytic effect. 'Eugh yuck you´re not serious' and a half somersault out of the bed followed. From a list of about 20 hostels we´d managed to pick the one with a bedbug problem. A close inspection of the sheets showed they´d had a real feast on the zombie - not surprising really. Well it was 1.30am in the morning and even though Argentines are late nighters I thought trying to find a room at this time was unlikely. So we dragged all our clothes out of our pack spread them on the floor and tried to get some sleep. The heavy rock band just kept on going on. The zombie was really quite animated in her description of them and the hostel in general. Half an hour later we packed it in when more creepies found us, got our money back, flagged down a taxi, payed for a posh hotel, had very thorough showers and stayed up to 3 in the morning whinging about bad hygiene standards while watching a movie on Sky.
